Earth Fairies )O(

Earth Fairies )O(
The Element of Earth

This video compliments of ~ gossamerhall

Earth is the great nurturer.  All that grows and lives draws its substances from the Earth, and everything, when it dies, return to the Earth, to be transmuted and form the basis of future life.

In some ways earth fairies are the fairies that we have all come to picture, from storybooks and tales.  There are spirit of tree, flower, stone, and cave.  They tend all that lives, and their wisdom is important for our bodies and our lives, for without proper contact with the Elements of Earth, we can achieve nothing.  Earth contains and gives form, it build and protects, it holds and treasures, and reveals the rhythms of Nature and of our own bodies.  In secret, it keeps the seeds until they are ready, by their own special magic, to burst forth.  In the same way, our own creativity and artistry depend on a healthy connection with the Earth.

The Earth elemental spirits are called gnomes, and they give special character to every rock, every crystal, and every flowerbed, so these things all have something to teach us, and marvels to reveal.  Gnomes are usually attached to a specific place; they do not fly, and their lives are finite.  "Gnome" is a generic term for various types of Earth elemental, and by no means all of them look anything like the little wizened gnomes often shown in books.  They create color and texture everywhere and help us attune to the energies of the Earth and tap into its hidden resources.

If we do not have sufficient instinctual contact with the gnomes, we can become "spaced out" and ineffectual.  We may neglect our bodies and our health, get lost in "head stuff" or an imaginary world.  The gnomes can give us joy in simple things, can adjust our sense of timing and bring us opportunities for real success.  They also inspire in us a reverence for all life, and the ability to balance our own personal interests with those of others, so that we do not become greedy, exploiting, and rapacious.

Of all the elementals, the gnomes have perhaps received the most grievous of hurts, from our abuse of nature and of nature and of our own bodies.  But they are still there, reliable as ever, proving by their very presence that there are mighty powers within the Earth.
